At Las Vegas Weekly magazine, I worked on stories that helped shape the city’s evolving narrative; spanning business, local and national politics, culture, entertainment, and sports. I was there during a pivotal moment in Las Vegas history, contributing to coverage of the city’s professional sports boom, including the inaugural seasons of the Vegas Golden Knights, Aces, and Raiders, as well as the arrival of Formula 1. My work coincided with major milestones such as the openings of T-Mobile Arena, Allegiant Stadium, and the F1 circuit.
I collaborated closely with writers, art directors, the publisher, and the marketing team to develop compelling visual storytelling. This included creating original illustrations and graphics in Photoshop, Illustrator, and Procreate, and designing layouts in InDesign. When photography was required, I sourced imagery or art directed photo shoots, then handled post-production with retouching, compositing, and image manipulation to align with the editorial vision. Each issue demanded the ability to juggle multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, and consistently elevate a wide range of subject matter through strong, thoughtful design.

These dual covers were created entirely in Photoshop using Shutterstock imagery for the 2021 season. With a zero budget during the height of Covid, creative resourcefulness was essential. Both versions were distributed throughout the city, and readers began collecting them as keepsakes.

ACCOLADES
Prior to the Raiders even arriving in Las Vegas we did this fun package that focused on the Raider Nation. I was in charge of art direction. I created the shirts, hired a make-up artist and models while accompanying the photographer with the shoot. Afterwards, I created the page lay-outs and embellished the photos after the photographer’s edits.
Similarly, prior to Vegas Golden Knight’s first game, I created this hand-drawn illustration in anticipation of their momentous arrival.
Above were a few of my favorite of the countless Raiders’ related material I created for the magazine. Below are more sports related work. These were all created through various means, mostly Photoshop, Indesign and Procreate. A few required shoot directions, public relation communications and efficient time management.
